Spring has sprung and it’s a great time to get out and volunteer!

Help Make Wishes Come True. The Make-a-Wish Southern Florida 5K Walk for Wishes raised more than $225,000. Forty-five local children who are facing life-threatening conditions will have their wishes granted. Could anything be more powerful than this woman, quoted in the Sun-Sentinel story: “It reminds you that you’re not alone and that people care.” A Walk for Wishes is scheduled April 18 in Collier/Lee Counties. Contact http://wish.org/ to volunteer, learn about local chapters, or refer a child.

Meals on Wheels for Fido. It’s a terrible choice: Feed your beloved pet or buy your medication? Through Animeals, Meals on Wheels of Palm Beaches helps home-bound seniors feed their furry friends, perhaps freeing up funds for self-care. Read more about the SoFlo organization in the Sun-Sentinel. Initially funded by a grant from Banfield Charitable Trust, the organization is active all over the country and needs help. To find a local organization, search “animeals meals on wheels”; food, cash, and delivery assistance are all needed. To donate to Meals on Wheels, reach out to Meals on Wheels of America.
